Barnabas Collins sat up from his slumber in a cold sweat, was it a dream or was it real? His mind was racing trying to remember the details as they unfolded in his dream: I was on a beach in Martinique when in a distance I saw a blond woman, she was young. As she approached I was drawn to her eyes, so wide, so bright. We didn't speak we just stared at each other then all at once there was a clash of thunder and we were trussed into each others arms! We held each other tightly, I didn't want to let her go. Then slowly we drifted apart and suddenly she was gone. The next day I went with my Uncle Jeremiah to visit a man who was business partners with my father. He was a stuffy old shirt and had a sister that was just as stuffy. Then the room we were in stopped as if time stood still. The stuff shirt's daughter Josette entered the room. I guess they must have sensed something for the next thing I knew we were alone just Josette and I. We shared small talk and I realized that I wanted her as my wife. She giggled at the notion and politely smiled. Then she asked if I wished a beverage and I sad, yes of course. She summoned her servant, Angeligue bring some sherry. After a few minutes this girl entered the room carrying a tray. I didn't pay her no mind at first but then I looked at her and said to my self, it's her the girl from the beach. Josette was quite annoyed at my sudden interest in Angelique and announced, Barnabas yes I will marry you! I was taken aback and so was Angelique. Before I could say anything Josette called out Papa, Auntie Natalie I have news. All came from there places in a hurry. As soon as the Countess duPres entered the room she looked at Angelique and said, you are excused girl leave now! Angelique looked hurt and we glanced at each other as she was leaving. She stopped but a moment when Josette announced, Barnabas has asked me to marry him and I have accepted! I stood their dumbstruck as first the stuff shirt shook my hand then my uncle. I saw Angelique rush off. My uncle and I departed Martinique the next day to go back to Collinwood to prepare for my wedding. For I was sure that I would never see Angelique again. The End or is it? |
